Design Publication Research - Colour & Shape

Simple B&W theme. The use of this creates a clear and formal aspect of design and idea consideration. i BELIEVE THAT THIS FORMAT WOULD BE TO FORMAL AND 'STRICT' WHEN I NEED THE DESIGN TO SEEM CREATIVE BRIGHT AND INTRESTING FOR A YOUNG AUDIENCE.

Red is a harsh colour that contributes to danger feelings. This could be useful as i am creating an alamost warning / advice pack for my aduince. Red could be consided as warning and / or alert, although i feel to uch read, such as above, is to strong and bold and would create the wrong 'feel' for my publication.

Although illustrartion is useful to my deisgn and creates a playful / learing aspect, i feel that too much would distact from the topic. If i was to create illustartion i would like them to appear in a more abstarct formation.

The colours on these design 'merge' with each other slightly and i feel that the design has been lost because of this. The arrangment of the design is well suited to the concept but i feel it would look to image heavy for my publication.

More geometric shapes such as teh design above i feel would be more suited to my concept. The simple block shapes could represnet symbolise for the panoptison. The simple colours to co-enside are also relevant. Theu suit the background colour and create an eye-popping creation.

Layering techniques, such as useing specific filters and blends are also useful. The colours work well togther but i feel they could of been more considered. The arrangment of the design works well being placed in the centre but i feel that they scale doesnt work with the image.

When creating my designs i want to devlop a style that i have not indulged in yet and would like to use a whole spread for a abstarct / shape based style.

I feel this could be more benificial as it would make the design clearer and gove me a chnace to expplore format and scale. The choice of colur has to be relevant however to get the point across.

1999 Timeline Events

As the decade that was the 90s drew to a close, a theme of death and foreboding surfaced. Dr. Jack Kevorkian (aka Dr. Death) brought the taboo topic of assisted suicide into the unwelcome light. Two students went postal on their fellow classmates in what came to be known as the Columbine Massacre. Television saw the start of the gangster drama The Sopranos (which had us discussing who will get whacked next) and the Law & Order spinoff, Special Victims Unit, which dealt with heinous sex crimes. The Blair Witch Project made us wonder what exactly is happing in those woods while The Sixth Sense had us seeing dead people. And to top it all off, everyone was in a panic over the Y2K Bug. Were there going to be computer glitches when the calendar rolled around to January 1, 2000? And would these malfunctions be severe enough to cause the end of civilization as we know it? Better stock your basement with beer, Slim Jims, Doritos and toilet paper just in case. Hey, you can never be too cautiousBut 1999 wasn't all dark and gloomy. We had sequels, prequels and the first of two trilogies. Audiences went on a new adventure with Woody, Buzz and the gang and even met some new faces along the way. We did more spy work with the shagadelic Austin Powers as he tries to locate his Mojo. (Yeah, Baby!) Movie goers got a look at how the Star Wars saga started with Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The Mummy piqued our interest in Egyptian lore while The Matrix blew our minds with new special effects. And to the delight of children and adults alike, we met SpongeBob SquarePants, a quirky crabby patty flippin' yellow sponge with a mewing pet snail.
So stop "Waiting for Tonight." The time to party like it's 1999 is now. Find a "Beautiful Stranger" and say "Kiss Me," because this is the year to be "Livin' la Vida Loca!"

1998 Timeline of Events

The big headlines for 1998 were all about the Clinton sex scandal and the President's relationship with then intern, Monica Lewinsky. It had the country in an uproar was asking: What is that stain on the blue dress and how did it get there? What's the significance of the cigar? And probably the most crucial question of all, what the heck is up with that beret?
While the majority of our time was spent gossiping about our sax-lovin' Commander in Chief, we did manage to devote our free hours to the important things in life like the resurgence of pop music (Can you say *NSYNC, BSB, Britney Spears, and 98 Degrees?); the rise of The WB as teen's go to TV channel (Don't you wish TiVos were already available so you'd never miss an episode ofDawson's CreekFelicity, or Charmed?); and rooting for (or against if you were a Sammy Sosa fan) St. Louis Cardinal Mark McGuire as he set a new MLB record
